The long-awaited Control Post Flyover in Owerri, Imo State, has been completed and is now awaiting commissioning by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

The multi-billion-naira project, located at the ever-busy Assumpta Roundabout, also known as Control Post, is one of the flagship infrastructural undertakings of Governor Hope Uzodimma’s administration.

The interchange connects major arteries including Port Harcourt Road, Onitsha Road, Okigwe Road, and Bank Road, serving as a critical hub for traffic into and out of Owerri.

For years, motorists and commuters have lamented the gridlock at the Control Post junction, with traffic congestion worsening during peak hours.

The flyover, now completed, is expected to significantly ease movement within the state capital, decongest adjoining roads, and improve the flow of goods and services across the South-East corridor.

Governor Uzodimma had earlier described the project as “an engineering masterpiece designed to stand the test of time and enhance the aesthetics of Owerri.”

The construction was handled by Craneburg Construction Company, one of the firms overseeing major road projects in Imo State.

Residents who passed through the area on Saturday expressed excitement at the new development.

Many noted that the flyover has already transformed the landscape of the state capital and stands as a landmark of modernization.

The commissioning, which will be performed by President Tinubu in the coming days, is expected to draw dignitaries from across the country.

The event will also mark another milestone in the administration’s drive for urban renewal and infrastructural revolution in Imo State.

With the completion of the Control Post Flyover, attention now shifts to its official opening, which many residents believe will redefine traffic management in Owerri and boost economic activities in the state.
