Rivers State Government Begins Reconstruction of Yakubu Gowon Stadium

In demonstration of his commitment to sports development, Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara, has commenced the reconstruction of the Yakubu Gowon Stadium, Elekahia, Port Harcourt, the State capital.
The contract for the reconstruction of the stadium was awarded by the Rivers State Government to Monimichelle Sports Facility Construction Limited, an indigenous company.











Monimichelle Sports Facilities Construction Limited, which is registered with the Corporate Affairs Commission with registration number: RC – 972437 on Monday, August 15, 2011, specializes in construction activities.
The company is owned by sports infrastructure expert, Ebi Egbe, who prides himself as a specialist in turnkey sports facilities construction.
The reconstruction project for the stadium covers every component of the facility, including the playing turf, drainage systems, seating areas, floodlights, and dressing rooms.
Fubara had said at the flag off of the project that; “this is my administration’s commitment to sports development, youth engagement, and infrastructure renewal in Rivers State”.
The project is expected to be completed within eight months, ushering in a modern safe, and spectator-friendly stadium.
